It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Despite the cold conditions at the moment, Leonardtown High School has found a way to lift up our spirits through a big event called Snowball. This dance, which has been around since the age of dinosaurs, is like Homecoming except this time your fellow National Honor Society, or NHS, members have taken up the duties of planning and making Snowball happen. According to the Snowball Committee chair Karina Holt, coming up with ideas for such a big dance is “fun” especially when she is “able to come up with ideas with Tifanee [Mask],” who is also a chair as well. She also adds that the event planning can be quite “stressful because of the time and having to make sure everything is in place in a timely fashion.” Nevertheless, the planning is turning out well and many students should be looking forward to what these NHS members have in store for them on February 15th!
Speaking of students, have you ever been so overwhelmed with trying to find the perfect dress or outfit, or maybe you want to go out and do something with friends before the dance? Well, thanks to some of your fellow Leonardtown students here are some tips, tricks, and outrageous experiences to making your night out-of-this-world fun!
Getting ready for a dance can be a total hassle, especially if you don’t have enough time on your hands to achieve the look you’re going for so “make sure to wake up really early, so that you can get things done” says Junior Sara Wiegman. Do you have a dress that you think is a little on the plain side? Well, according to Sophomore Kylie Egan “You should pair it with a statement necklace, which is basically a necklace that stands out with your outfit.” Or maybe you want to go with the color scheme of the dance, red, white, and black. Looking your best is definitely a requirement for us girls, but make sure to wear something that you feel comfortable in or “you’ll most likely be that one girl…or guy that is definitely NOT having any fun and wastes the whole night worrying about their outfit,” says Junior Hannah Lorde.
Don’t worry guys, we have a couple of tips for you as well, a sophomore at LHS offers this piece of advice “if you have a date, try and coordinate with her on what color suit and tie you should have to match with her” or “You could just wing it and wear whatever you want.” Stay classy with more modern or traditional colors or maybe spice it up a bit with funkadelic colors!
Another tip for you all is to take lots of pictures with your friends, because you only get to live this night up once, so have the time of your life!
