The week of April 7- 11th was an interesting week as I noticed significant changes in some of my teachers’ attire, as did many of my classmates. At first, I thought it was just a coincidence, but as soon as I saw multiple other teachers in the same theme, I knew a planned spirit week must have been occurring. Since then, others have noticed as well, but if you were too bogged down with math work and writing notes, I’ll give you the inside scoop.
Monday- Animals
I walked into my 4th period AP Psychology, and noticed my lovely teacher, Ms. Harding, was in rather unusual attire, even more unusual than, well, usual. She had on a pig onesie and a pig plush ( graciously donated by her daughter ) to go with her outfit. I knew there had to be some reason behind it, but I couldn’t figure it out yet. Then I get to 5th period, AP Study Hall, and I notice Ms. Finn has on a dog cardigan hoodie on top of her outfit, I was intrigued.
Tuesday- Monochrome Outfits
I had just gone to say hi to Ms. Harding before going to 1st period, Journalism, and noticed she was wearing an all-pink outfit. I assumed it might just be that she was feeling pink this week, considering she had just worn a pink pig onesie, but as soon as I saw Ms. Hager in all green from head to toe, I knew they must have a secret staff spirit week going on. The rest of the day, I noticed the monochrome/ one color outfits. I even asked a few teachers about the spirit week; some of them were more secretive than others. Catching a few off guard, I was able to make them slip up about the spirit week, but then they’d realize and wonder how I knew.
Wednesday- Twin Day
If you noticed some duos on this day, they didn’t just happen to wear the same shirt ( unless they did ), but more likely they planned it because they were participating in twin day. A couple of teachers who did this were Ms. Hager and Mr. David, wearing gray Freedom of the Press shirts, black long sleeves underneath, and jeans. Mr. Turgeon and his good buddy Mr. Roberson wore matching outfits of black jackets, hats, and jeans. Mr. Webb and Mr. Byrnes both wore their quote shirts designed by students, fishing hats, and sunglasses.
Thursday- Happy Holidays
I was worried that this day would be tough to figure out. Luckily, after passing a few regularly dressed teachers, I finally saw the Santa hat upon Mr. David’s head, and shortly after, Ms. Hager walked in wearing an ugly sweater. Ms. Harding was dressed in all her holiday gear from head to toe with Halloween, Christmas, and Easter. Even Mr. Webb participated with some bunny ears for Easter. Ms. Finn wore a subtle St. Patrick’s Day shirt, but still participated. This day was fun and chaotic with the attire, some went all out, and some had some subtle holiday gear.
Friday- Dress Like A Student
Who is that new kid in the hallway? Oh wait! As they turn around, it’s a teacher, disguised as a student. Mr. Turgeon pulled up in his PJs, a baseball cap, and Pit Vipers. Then in walked Mr. David with a sweatshirt hoodie and his backpack on the front of his body. Ms. Harding was wearing the classic Raider sweatpants, and Ms. Smith had on headphones around her neck and a sweater tucked into the side of her pants stylishly. All the teachers seemed to have a good time dressing casually and mocking the students’ usual attire.
Now, all this was a fun way to see our teachers have fun and dress up before spring break, sending us off with intrigue, curiosity and probably a good laugh. Good job to anyone who noticed the secret teacher spirit week!
