Do you like writing? Do you ever struggle to get out of a writer’s block? Well I have some fun activities to help you get your creativity flowing!
Creative Writing Prompts:
Look up creative writing prompts! There are thousands of unique prompts you can find online. Instead of spending hours thinking about the premise of your story, writing prompts can eliminate that time. For instance, write about someone who is traveling away from their hometown for the first time. If that’s not your style then there are endless other possibilities with creative writing prompts, ranging from genres to word counts. Additionally, there are contests for creative writing and using prompts can be a great way to practice if you are interested in entering writing competitions.
Changing Your Point of View:
Have you already written your own story? If you don’t know what to write next you could rewrite your own stories from the point of view of a different character. Do you have a story about two enemies who can’t seem to understand one another? How will your protagonist look from the perspective of the antagonist? What can you learn about the antagonist when you are seeing everything take place from their perspective? What information do we no longer know about the protagonist?
Additionally, you can rewrite your story in a second-person or third-person perspective.
Photographic Prompts:
A picture is worth a thousand words right? Look at some pictures of nature and create a story about them. Everyone is capable of creating their own unique story from one single image. How will a picture of a rainforest create a different story than a picture of a beach? Go on and get out there! Find some pictures!
