The Maryland primary elections took place on Tuesday, May 14th. There were numerous tight races among candidates.
In the democratic Presidential primary, President Joseph R. Biden won over Marianne Williamson and Dean Phillips with 86.3% of the votes. In the Republican Presidential primary, former President Donald J. Trump won over Nikki Haley with 80% of the vote.
In the republican primary for U.S. Senate, Larry Hogan won against Robin Ficker and Chris Chaffee, receiving 61.9% of the votes. In the democratic primary for U.S. Senate, Angela Alsobrooks won 54% of the votes against David Trone and Michael Cobb.
In voting district five, which includes St. Mary’s County, Charles County, Calvert County, Price George’s County, and Anne Arundel County, U.S. House representative Steny Hoyer won the democratic primary for the U.S. House with 71% of votes. In the republican primary for U.S. House in district five, Michelle Talkington won being uncontested.
Locally, there was a competitive race for St. Mary’s Circuit Court Judge. Current judge Amy Lorenzini ran against Sue Ann Armitage for this position and won, keeping her spot as Judge.
