Their website provides seven simple tips to stay safe around water. Their first tip is to make sure that if you have a child around water make sure that they know how to swim whether it’s your sibling or a kid you are babysitting. It is extremely important to make sure they know how to swim. Their second tip is simply just to learn to swim! There should ot be shame around not being able to swim it is common thing around older kids or adults and it is ok. But you should learn to swim because it is such an important skill to stay safe. Their third tip is to know where all the drains are located in the pool. Their fourth tip similarly is to make sure that they have drain cover over them. These can be very dangerous if you swim near them because hair, limbs,jewelry, and bathing suits can get stuck in them. The fifth tip is to if you have a pool at home make sure that at your home pool you install necessary barriers, covers, and alarms. But why is this important to know around our area? Our area is surrounded by a lot of water. It is not uncommon that you will be around and near it.
