When the weather shifts from wind chills of 20˚ to afternoon highs of 72˚, it might be time to change your wardrobe. The winter 2012 fashion trends are already blazing the halls of Leonardtown but here are a few suggestions to help you transition from winter to spring.
Let’s face it, none of us love huge parkas and snow boots but
when the weather is right in the middle of being cool, but just a little too cool to wear short sleeves or thing cardigans try a denim jacket as a better option. Denim comes in all different washes, but if you’re feeling brave this spring season why not try a jacket in a fun color or a pattern. “Denim jackets look really cute with anything. They really come in handy for cool spring mornings,” says senior Kayla Bowles.
Dodging through puddles would not be as enjoyable if you were wearing sandals. While your pedicure might look amazing, try wearing rain boots instead. Rain boots are not just for the girl on the Morton salt can, but can provide appropriate shelter through the rainy spring days.
Scarves are a lovely way to dress up or down any outfit. Plus, they’re extremely useful for blocking a little wind chill. Try chunky knits, or pretty floral for a sweet feminine touch. “I like to wear them with solid colored shirts or jean jackets to give an extra pop of color,” says senior Taylor Engdahl when describing her spring staples.
“In the spring, I really love jewelry that’s cheerful and bright. Just like the season,” said junior Abby Wild when asked about her favorite things for spring.
With a closet full of dresses who needs pants? Don’t reach for the yoga pants and a hoodie; instead, utilize those dresses to the max by pairing them with colorful accessories. This time of year, flirty spring jewelry hit the stores and the runway to transform dresses and skirts into spring glamour. Try tropical colored flowers for a sweet feminine touch to any outfit.
Just because the weather is drab and gloomy doesn’t mean your wardrobe has to be! Try incorporating some of these trends into your closet and you just might make it to spring.
