Every year at Leonardtown High School, the winter formal, Snow Ball, stirs up lots of emotion. Not only is it near Valentine’s Day, which adds romance to the mood, but it’s a chance to dress up. It’s the big occasion of the season!
This year, our new principal added a new twist on the dance and held an assembly a few days before to warn all the students going of the new rule. Ms. Montgomery informed the students that they should be a fair distance apart when dancing with their partner, and if she saw any grinding, that the Chicken Dance would be played.
So, how was the dance? Generally, Snow Ball draws a smaller crowd than Homecoming. But the people that did go have one common opinion: the music did not meet expectations. “It was pretty fun, but the music selection wasn’t good. The music requests didn’t get played,” said Amanda Brady.
Overall, Snow Ball was fun; it was a different experience for Leonardtown High School Students. It’s nothing we’ve seen before, and who knows what will be next!
