In the world of social media there’s a lot of talk on if Michael Jordan was as good as advertised and if he is the greatest of all time. It has become a social media trend to post Michael Jordan’s lowlights and many make the argument that he did not play against competition. Many are making the argument that the 90s basketball world was filled with plumbers and non athletes. This once again sparks the G.O.A.T debate.
To begin with, Michael Jordan had a fantastic career regardless of his opponents. Jordan was a six-time champion with the Chicago Bulls. In addition, Jordan was a 10-time scoring champion, a 14-time All-Star, and the winner of five Most Valuable Player honors. Through his intense competition, unwavering work ethic, and highlight-reel plays, Jordan took the sport to new heights. In addition, he was recognized as one of the greatest players in NBA history by winning six Finals MVP honors. Jordan influenced a generation of athletes and fans worldwide, so his legacy goes beyond the court.
LeBron James is the same way. His career success list is quite outstanding. LeBron has won four NBA championship rings and four MVP awards. In addition, he has won four regular-season MVP honors and is a 17-time All-Star. LeBron is incredibly versatile on the court he can score, pass, and play defense. His influence extends beyond basketball; in addition to being a philanthropist who gives back to his community, he is a role model for players. LeBron is one of the best players of all time because of his leadership qualities on and off the court. His reputation for hard effort, devotion, and love of the game has cemented his place in basketball history. Whether it’s his dedication or his clutch efforts at pivotal times
Despite the trend hating on the 90s basketball, Jordan did play with a lot of competition. He played against some of the all time greats like Magic Johnson and Larry Bird and took the league by storm. At the same time, Lebron’s era defensively isn’t as bad as people make it out to be. More players have just become better shooters and scorers including the revolution of the 3 point shot by Steph Curry. Leaving us at the conclusion that the goat of the NBA comes to what you value more. Longevity and career accolades, or championships, a dynasty, and maybe the best prime ever. I personally prefer the latter.
