Located in the charming town of Brunswick, Maine, Bowdoin College is everything you could want in a top notch, highly selective New England liberal arts institution, with many aspects that make it stand out from the rest!
Each year, only around 20% of applicants are accepted to attend Bowdoin, and those that attend contribute to the very small student body of Bowdoin, only 1, 762 total undergraduates. Although Bowdoin is a small school, it does offer many majors, the most popular of those being the social sciences. Bowdoin College does not require that SAT or ACT scores be submitted for application, although they can be submitted if the applicant desires.
Bowdoin offers students the opportunity to participate in many sports, although they are all division III, club, intramural, or intercollegiate. Located in a suburban setting, Bowdoin offers many things for students to do, both at a walking distance and a driving distance. Take a five minute walk down the street of Brunswick and you can reach a gelato shop, an Indian restaurant, a pub, and many other options. Additionally, right on campus, there is an art museum, as well as an Arctic museum, which is fitting because Bowdoin’s mascot in a polar bear. If you want to get off campus, and go further than just down the street, one of the most popular clubs at Bowdoin is the ‘Outing Club’ which takes more than 100 getaways a year including skiing, nature trails, canoeing, and many more. If none of this sounds appealing, then you can just make your way to one of the two dining halls on campus and eat at the places that were selected as the best dining halls by Princeton Review this past year.
As is the case with many colleges of this nature, Bowdoin is expensive, with a tuition of $42,816 a year, but does boast that they meet 100% of required need. Bowdoin College is like no other, and is likely to stand out from the rest during your college searching.
