Most Popular Movies of 2015 Survey
November 20, 2015
The 2015 year was filled with great movie releases. With so many box office hits having left their mark in theaters everywhere, how could you possibly choose the best one? With that said, LTV and Imprint staffers wanted to hear from people the movie they most enjoyed from this year.
A list of the top grossing movies released in 2015 (according to The-numbers.com- as of the first week of November, 2015) was used to conduct a survey on people in the Leonardtown community. Ten movies out of 2015’s top twenty list were included in the poll, with participants being asked to choose the film they liked the most. The movies included: Jurassic World, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, the Martian, Pitch Perfect 2, Furious 7, Straight Outta Compton, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Inside Out, Minions, and Cinderella.
43 people in total completed the survey. The results were a little shocking as the #1 top grossing movie, Jurassic World, and the 16th top grossing movie, Straight Outta Compton, ended in a 10-vote tie. Minions (6th top grossing movie), Cinderella (8th top grossing movie), Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (9th top grossing movie), and Pitch Perfect 2 (10th top grossing movie), all finished with one or less vote. The Martian, despite Matt Damon’s acclaimed performance, as well as the heart-touching film, Furious 7, dedicated to the loss of one of one of the main characters, Paul Walker, both finished with a mere six votes. Avengers: Age of Ultron, the anticipated sequel to Avengers, pulled in only five votes; just squeaking past the Pixar-collaborated film, Inside Out, with 4 votes.
What are your thoughts on the results of the survey? Did you expect any movies to get less votes than they did? Did you expect any movies to get more votes than they did? Make sure to cast your votes!
